Hi. Welcome to my poetry page:). Pull up a chair and kick back awhile and read:). Actually, I'm just starting this page, it's the starting point to my artwork and poetry, although my art won't be displayed for awhile since i have no scanner yet, but i will soon, that's one of my new years resolutions:)

One of my favorite modern day (as in since I've been alive) poets is Kevin Powell. He used to be on "The Real World" on MTV a few years back and now writes articles for Vibe magazine. I can't remember which of those 2 is his regular mag, but I've seen him in both. Check out his book called "Recognize", it came out three years ago (1995) and my favorite poem by him, is called "Reality Check which is a tribute to Kurt Cobain. Another of my favorites is Langston Hughes with my all-time favorite poem, "Let America Be America Again", and I also like Maya Angelou, especially her poem "Phenomenal Woman". I have decided to take down my links that I originally had on the poems because I don't know if having them up is copyright infringement and the last thing I need now, is a lawsuit! Even though I take no credit for writing them, I realize that it might be a violation of the copyright laws. For now, you can go here to see some of his other works. I also in the near future plan to put up a few of my short stories (maybe). The one I like best is called "Lonely". I wrote it when I was a high school junior, it only took 15 minutes to think up and write it all down, but I think it was the best one I wrote...it also won me the Senior Writing Award at my highschool.

Follow this link to read my poem entitled Unity. This poem was part of a poster I submitted in an international art show. The poster had 4 people, red, yellow, white and black to signify the different races. They were all holding hands and the poem was written around them in small letters with the word Unity written above them. The last 3 sentences were written below them with the word "stop" both times in red. The poster won honorable mention

Here is my newest poem entitled Broken Hearted. It is about my latest ex.
Here is my latest poem entitled The Friend, it is a work in progress. Can you figure out who it is about?:)
Here is my latest poem entitled IT, it is about my brain tumor and is also a work in progress.

Here is a list of poems my internet sis submitted to me. They are good!
